Westborough was incorporated in 1717 as the 100th town in Massachusetts, the town follows an open Town Meeting form of government, with a five-member board of selectmen.
The community is known as a good place to live, with high levels of community participation, good municipal sevices including excellent schools and a pride in the history (which includes Eli Whitney and Admiral Denfeld). The community has attracted high technology manufacturing and corporate headquarters as well as a wide mix of other commercial enterprises. The positive community climate continues to encourage business growth on the one hand, while also encouraging pleasant open areas spacing attractive residential development.
